high emma was a spy master who saved the world countless times until the
day she failed while the overlord ruled she marshaled yeah so i think
the story i think the lore of evil genius here is effectively that like
the events of the first evil genius happened one of these evil geniuses
took over the world was the overlord ruled for a while and was somehow
overthrown or something like that um so while the overlord ruled she
marshalled through resources and prepared for afterwards but when order
was restored the world slid back into its status quo emma was horrified
then furious then resolute the world didn't need her to save it it
needed her to end it jumbo you've never heard of evil genius oh man you
were in for a treat so the premise of this game if you don't know is you
are an evil genius you are one of these classic sort of bond villain
type people and you're basically building your base your evil lair while
you send your million minions all over the world and agents like james
bonds and stuff like that try to infiltrate your lair if you've ever
played something like dungeon keeper or anything like that you'll get
similar vibes so we're playing emma i was thinking we're going to be
playing here on cane key uh this island here uh perfect for the
unassuming recluse so again we're gonna we're gonna keep up for like the
uh you know as much deception as possible is gonna be our theme kaneki
casino features a secluded helipad surrounded by a low but intimidating
mountain ridge owing to the island's natural defenses any visitor must

freeform uh this is one of the games the original even evil genius was
similar to this um if you did like kind of fail to build the first
couple of things like in the correct order you might like do an early
fail hopefully we don't end up in a situation like that where we
suddenly find ourselves um having overspent and not have enough money to
finish everything that we need to get started so i'll try to build what
i think are the essentials relatively small early on to not overspend
start sending out some some minions to steal some gold from around the
world and then um and then we can keep expanding at that point so we
will see we will see about that boom yeah well i've played through the
tutorial a couple of times now so i'm hoping i will do it without f and
up we will see um the thing with the tutorial is at the way it does it
it sort of treats some of the tutorial steps aside with like side quests
you get bonus gold rewards and stuff like that during the tutorial which
is why it's a little easier to get started but we'll see we'll see what
we can do cool not overspending here right emma's voice by samantha bond
who played miss money penny in the pierce bros and bond films are you
serious that's stupendously cool they got a lot of great voice actors
for this i'd go evil if it meant getting a chair like that yeah spider

myself i find it difficult to remain composed who's john steele i was

equipment that we can sell for some cash injection early on and i think
that's one of the things if you get stuck with cash you're expected to
go and sell like these broken down slot machines which we might do
pretty quickly but i'll wait for a second because um i i don't want to
busy the minions right now we'll get them digging up some stuff instead
uh so we've got a little area over here and yet we do have like multiple
floors to work with including some gold seams down in the basement so i
don't know how how quickly we should be going down there or not i don't
know so in terms of vulnerability most of the well all the visitors have
to come through the casino so theoretically they're going to be coming
through these doors so i i want to i'm going to want to build the
majority of my base i think as far away from these doors as possible um
in particular the valuable stuff and then we can use some of this real
estate over here maybe to set up a bit of a maze of traps long term
hopefully it'll be a little while before we truly need it but we shall
see so what i'm thinking is we'll go into the corridor build mode oh i
guess it's clip and drag i forgot about that different games different
things oh there's some undiggable terrain over here which is kind of
interesting uh huh visitors don't come about hallelujah apparently not i
think the helipad is just just us so the thing we need as early as
possible um we need a vault because we need to have the gold actually
inside of our base that's one thing we need a control room as fast as
possible i think that's what we're going to do is in fact potentially
start by putting down the control room with the idea is as long as we
have a functioning control room we can run missions which means we can
make money um and then it'll be about getting up the minimum amount of
power to run the control room um and then uh tacking on a few more
amenities for our minions like the uh the cafeteria the staff room the
uh the barracks and things like that so we'll do something like this so
i think it's far enough away from the entrance what we'll do is we will
and we will need a vault so what i was thinking is i would dig out a bit
of a vault over here and then we're going to put down these oops not
where i want you watch over there we got whiskey and chocolate that
princess harry thank you very much oh i only had to wait a decade and a
half let's do this yeah it has been a long long time i'll just put down
a couple of pallets for now we've got room for more actually let me
double check that this room is is size community it is actually if i
recall correctly the tutorial gets you to put down four maybe six
pallets we'll put down four for now and again hopefully not overspent i
guess what it could do is even shrink this room down for now there you
go something like that so we don't spend as much digging and that's
going to be okay um you need minions to operate the control room before
you need the room itself yeah well i mean we will have minions first of
all and we've got we've got a few now we've got to pass through 15 right
out of the gate so that should be okay um so we'll get the vault planned
out we're not actually starting we haven't actually like confirmed the
construction yet which is actually a thing i kind of like i need a door
on there as well i was just thinking um i don't think we need a door in
the control room but let's make sure we've got one guarding that and
then radio repeater we'll just put one down for now but we've got some
space to do some others we can expand some of the way this is dug around
that's going to be okay in fact again i may as well oops shrink this
down to save a little bit of digging for now but we're clearly going to
expand in this direction i think okay um we'll need power we'll need a
few other rooms let me go and confirm this to get this started there we
go so the minions are going to arrive and we're over here too what kind
of powers we have skiing chocolate oh tony thank you very much um hold
on i can't quite uh read that over here my partner ordered some coffee
the other day but we got a bag of ethiopian ground apparently the farmer
just put dirt in the bag ethiopian ground okay that's pretty good that's
pretty good isn't that control too small to be effective um i don't know
i mean if it says we can't do it we can't do it we'll go ahead and
expand it we'll see build more generally i know i know um we've got some
early optional goals which are going to be nice build training rooms
scout these provinces scout that we can track the training room on our
hud because it'll actually be quite nice it's one of the things we will
need fairly early on um and building will be good we can also go ahead
and start one of these side quests which is going to be to recruit
minions of a particular type so for example we can start the side quest
to get scientists we need your help solving a problem this thinking
stuff is hard i suppose we can't all be towering intellects very well
what devious issue requires my attention hey pentacock i put out a
wanted ad for you evil genius seeks minions to sacrifice their lives in
world domination attempt must be preferred to work 24 7 for no pay messy
death inevitable but costumes and gets cut off but costumes and laser
death rays provided no weirdos call 1-900 all right that's pretty good
what are these pieces of string attached to our boots my minions are too
dumb to understand laces laces they're laces was this your problem no
wonder our research department hasn't been delivering time to train some
smarter minions yeah she does look like the the actress played lucille
booth but that actress was also the voice of malory archer which would
be especially fitting for this hey different guy give us your best evil
laugh well didn't i kinda i mean i don't know is the mohaha is it
actually a laugh but yeah there you go uh so this is all unbuilt well
actually technically we could dig through here but i don't think i wanna
uh i did like the idea of building the barracks relatively close to the
front so our minions don't have to go too far um if they're hanging out
at the barracks maybe we'll just have like the barracks lunchroom and
thing over here so any idle minions aren't too far away from our front
gate as well that may make a ton of sense i don't know um and yeah we're
gonna need some power soon vaults are being vulntified okay let me go
back into construction mode over here again i'm gonna try to avoid
building too much too quickly um let's go ahead and dig out the stuff or
the um the bunk house over here we'll give you we don't even need a door
really um so you need enough bunk beds so that your minions can get
sleep this is wow that's a really big room more than we need um in the
tutorial they get you to put down four of these so i'll put down four to
get started um if if these start filling up and your minions just can't
get sleep you know quickly enough that's a problem the bigger thing is
probably the lockers because they increase your minion capacity and to
me i think that's like the most important more most valuable thing uh
you can be doing there the the these things are a little bit more
expensive but increasing our numbers are gonna be nice i'm gonna go
ahead and just confirm this i will want more but i'm again still a
little bit worried about spending too quickly too much too quickly uh
but obviously we also we definitely need a power room so i think the
plan here is extend the hallway at least a little bit get ourselves a
hallway moving down here leave some room behind that for expansion and
maybe i'll start a power room right here let's figure out [Applause]
okay i'm just going to build two but i'll leave room for the third in
there so we'll just start with two because again i think in the tutorial
to get you started with that it's gonna be another 10 grand we're going
to have a lot left over again we can sell furniture in the front and yes
the incinerator as well the tutorial gets you to build the incinerator

away but the tutorial does encourage you to build it instantly so what
the heck right okay so we'll have power we'll have our radio repeater so
we can start doing some uh missions and get some more cash and hopefully
that will be good and i guess i have the game paused let's go ahead and

perfect the music is fantastic you've run out of power i'm blocking the
elevators this where we have to build the elevator well we can just move
things around we'll see chasm has a specific building for it is anything
like the first game well yeah because i didn't can you build like a
doomsday rocket in the chasm we can just use the space for something
else we can fill in things we can you know reshape things we're going to
be okay corpses are supposed to lower morale so it seems like poor to
you know leave the corpse around well i'm gonna have to remember to put
a door in front of this too once we get spy agents i guess i could leave
no door for now um but some of the saboteurs will really go after your
power generating buildings so you want to have that uh locked up yeah i
love the visuals i like that you know you can see sort of the internal
structure of the walls back here but then it gets covered over there i
like the little effects of tearing things down like you know 10 out of
10 that way right yeah it should give you dungeon keeper vibes
absolutely okay with sturgeon well um some of this money is going to go
down as it actually buys the furniture for these rooms because we
haven't actually spent it yet the money money goes as things get built
up but i think we're going to be okay and again if i'm concerned just go
through here and sell this stuff i want to save it until the last minute
to do it because this will be sort of my emergency valve i'll i'll
realize that it's there it would suck to like run out of money like sell
all this overspend run out of money and then get stuck i think corpse
casinos will put on the nose oh skin chocolate from bumbatu thank you

uh stuff happening casino stuff works well for distracting agents yeah
we'll definitely build some casino stuff over here after absolutely our
vault's only 18 full so obviously we are in uh we are vault's plenty big
for now make sure this door is nice and long actually is it just me or
is the store look like it's open right now is this door just open oh
probably because it doesn't have power that's probably it there it is we
have power so now the doors are closing and we'll have another generator
coming so we're going to be okay there but yeah in theory our radio
repeaters there so again um yes pay attention increases spotting power
price has job in the vicinity ulster henchmen resetting their cooldowns
giving them an edge i think what i'm going to do is i'm going to go
ahead and move my evil genius right over here use pay attention oh hang
on part of the plan i want to make sure this area here maybe i'll
actually stand in the room just make this a high priority make sure it's
running properly get this done excellent okay let's go to the global
operations where do we want to run missions first we have to scout out
an area i mean it feels like i should focus on like belgium right cuba i
guess i should uh what i should do is i should unlock one of the places
that has um one of the scientists waiting for us there's one there maybe
it would uh like south africa right over here because it's close for
this asia's nice and local that's true too but all right right here uh
southern anvil provinces let's scoot this it'll take three of our
workers 30 seconds to do some scouting we'll unlock this area and then
there'll be a potential to recruit a scientist there although we may do
money first so some of our minions are running for the helipad they'll
take off optional objectives build a training room earn gold from
schemes which is going to happen you know uh organically i know our
vaults are nearly empty rob a bank we'll do is we'll sell a couple of
these [Music] my couple apparently mean three just to make sure we don't
suddenly run out you see how easy it is to like run super low all of a
sudden no this is we're not these are broken slot machines they do
nothing they exist simply to be sold for extra cash the casino is
definitely going to be a casino this is not a casino right now it's
whiskey and chocolate people are hungry i guess i could get some bonus
money if i do get a 64 tile training room which isn't actually that much
i don't even need to put anything in it it just has to be dug although
there is a cost to building it uh which one's a training room no
archives is it this one training room so just needs an eight by eight
it's not very much technically it'll give you a little more space doing
this it's gonna cost us 2300 to do it but then we'll get i think 5000
back from completing this and it's something we're ultimately going to
want it might be a little tight on room and things but we'll see how it

three minutes running this scheme and yeah we don't have the uh we don't
have the interrogation chamber anything like that let's just start
making some money from schemes to make sure we're stable we don't have
to rush the scientist i mean we don't want to take too long but there
you go it'd be nice if this was clickable i don't like the the having to
go into here then here then here then here to collect the reward that's
a lot of extra little clicks that is kind of unfortunate and annoying

to expand the controller let's forget this is a click and drag game well
it's because i've been playing um end zone and placing the roads down
you just click move and then click again but here it's click and drag
and expand the control room so that we can actually open up a couple
extra areas um i mean we've got side objectives to completely scout
certain um people's territory but then yeah more of these is good but we
do need to get uh we need to get our staff room yeah let's also consider
that so we're going to expand the corridor that lined up yeah it is
expand the corridor somewhere oh actually how do i want to do this
[Music] i just do this succeeded and that [Music] there'll be plenty of
room to add lots of these stations in here i'm going to start with a
couple span that scheme has succeeded is it done already i guess i am
playing on fast forward launch another scheme here golden delicious oh
this takes 30 minutes to process it's got like more money but it's gonna
take a while to run uh there we go three minutes for another 10 grand
we'll do this rain on me she's the queen of pop or just a pretender to
the throne either way we're going to nab some of our outfits and auction
them off just don't touch the meat one so we're stealing some of lady
gaga's um uh unif or outfits and then selling them on ebay or something

what i'm gonna do is i'm gonna add in a staff room now and i'm just
gonna add it like through here so people you know it's fine if people
have to walk through the cafeteria to get to the staff room that seems

hallway through here i the ideally four wide would be better because of
doors and i might just connect to over here i don't know because what i
want to do is i want to build a hospital and i think it would be nice to
be able to access it from a few different directions maybe i'll just go
ahead and do that we can expand these a little bit late lower down so
our people can run around a bit might make it harder to defend i have no
idea and actually i don't see any reason why you we wouldn't want just
um a hospital we can just like walk through fairly easily a little
infirmary here if i went and did maybe i'll leave room to extend the
staff room a little bit right but let's say we did something like this
um i think some of this still counts as a corridor there we go [Music]

because there's no reason not to sell them right away except that i
liked it as a let's not accidentally overspend because we'll get a nice
warning if we're like you know if we hit zero money but we still have
stuff to sell we you know you get it you get a moment to be like oh yeah

can't we're not gonna get stuck that's the important thing not enough
gold for the current build order that's okay though because we've just
started a scheme over here which is going to make some money for us left
side of our infirmary has three tile highway left side off infirmary has
four tile hallways not three yes [Music] actually want fours wherever
possible but this is this is unbuildable over here reason i want four is
because you can build um traps and doors need four tile wide three wide
is not enough for traps and doors so yeah this way we have the ability
to expand the staff room if we need more we still got room over here for
the command room to be expanded which is great we have some room to
build over here and of course we can get you know we can access all this
area here in fact oh this looks unpassable which is interesting no no
i'm betting we can dig through that maybe i wonder oh are these all spy
agents wait [Music] oh my god the investigators start right away in this
one [Music] oh you can dig through it with higher tech um wow [Music] i
need that intruder discovered and distracted yeah let's just distract
because what i'll do we'll uh burn through some of their uh they're
resolved right we just delay their resolve because we don't have
anywhere to capture them although we may want to we might want to set
one to capture i know we don't have any wear form right now we've got
some cash let's quickly build an interrogation room because i started
high threat that's what the character thing was it's interesting because
i was like but i'm the super spy kind of person now do we care where we
put the prison to me i'm thinking it might be nice to have it closer to
the front so when we do capture some we don't have to carry them as far
in i don't know if they can be rescued but it's probably fine i think
we'll build it here warning not enough power to power this build order
okay noted not enough gold oh do these guys already have evidence their
suspicion levels are high yeah i mean we could just try to terminate
them all that's true we don't have any one skilled start a lab to high
alert we don't have any guards yet oh yeah no they're just escaping with
the evidence oh i see all right okay scheme completed well let's let's
bust through the side story now the launch scheme to capture the
scientists since we have somewhere to interrogate them turn off the
alert now yeah i wonder how much trouble we're gonna be in well we'll
find out these guys are complaining oh um i need to actually get this
room decorated that is expensive as hell as i said we probably don't
have enough money for this wow when you don't do the tutorial it really
does make the start a lot harder because you get investigators right
away you don't get like infinite free money oh uh i can collect the

the twirl turned on so it can like step by step things because i don't i
don't think i even have i might have access to some traps yeah there are
some basic traps you can get early on not that i have money for them but
you know power supplies right and we won't have enough power well i'm
gonna you know we don't have enough money for all these things hopefully
we can do a scheme so we're gonna do some combat over here can i move my

just the missed the first wave and that was it down to my last health

money for the eg tv so that our uh minions can get back some of their um
uh smarts morale restore morale how do we just restore the smarts or is
the smarts just part of the training thing which we're gonna wait on for
now we got beds okay spend less on candles no exactly almost earned the
20 000 gold which might give us an extra cash injection it's really
weird how these side quests work and yeah it is true when you do the
tutorial you do get like infinitude money [Music] oh my chair in what

basic minion maintenance objects are so stupid expensive like what the
hell why are they so expensive just the basic minion objects fifteen

i want that intruder found and how do you deal with disguises you can
create zones that auto flag agents how do we do that is that something
you get later it's probably something you get later a trap has been

like high priority maybe we can see through the disguises okay yeah the
fighting has started now yes minions are completely expendable maybe i
should have gotten the guards right away at least the higher six more
minions is going to happen pretty quick yeah they're still running
around and doing starts how how could we start slower the problem is
everything we've built here feels like it's absolutely 100 required like
what what i built i intentionally built things as small and possible and
as cheap as possible well we actually started the rooms fairly small
yeah no i i i think the game is really assumes you start with the
tutorial and all their free cuz i can't fight with my uh my my dude

get this yeah maybe start with a valet mission is the way to go just say
screw science right away let's try one more time without the tutorial uh

think about like um ui design usually ultimate escape is like at the
bottom i'm gonna try again a large quality so we could maybe if we built
i mean would we have started by putting down more lockers sooner maybe
that wouldn't be a bad idea we don't think we need more beds that
doesn't increase your capacity more lockers perhaps [Music] one of these
dumb like um when you start the game these dialogue boxes that like see
click start the game it doesn't actually start the game because like oh
do you want to start in the vulcan version of the x12 it's like could
you just save it no you can't make a guard shack right away in the first
tone because you have to do this big side quest to get guards you got to
get a big side quest to get guards that's one of the things yeah i did
notice that the character was high threat so i guess this character is
just a lot harder because you start off with a huge degree of suspicion
which to me is like to me still feels like it doesn't fit the backstory
for that character high threat high threat all of them are high threat
that's that's nothing that's just flavor text it's just a hundred
percent flavor text that's all that is i'm still not gonna run with the
troll even though tutorial makes things a million times easier i think
it's the region they started [Music] yeah we won't rush the science
[Music] in the uh so one of the other things in the tutorial is you
don't get agents right away you don't get no agents whatsoever until you
get to a certain phase in tutorial and uh that's pretty influential no
totally unskippable we didn't lose what we figured we could restart for
like a slightly better start so i think the initial vault and control
room i still think and i knew i went going in like knowing money can be
very risky up front which is why i want to start with the control room
and i think an early control room is still very much the way to go so i
think we'll build one i think the position will move them slightly but
that's not really the issue so what i want to do is allow enough room to
be able to build like four of these in the end you do not have enough
power so i'm not going to actually build it this big yet [Music] there
we go okay so that size will allow me to do it so what i want to do is i
want to cancel you cancel you i'm going to shrink this room in a second
no no nope but this is exactly what i did at the start again so our
vault is going to build over here ish [Music] no i want to still be
building the vault so right click starts the builds i guess cancels it
but what's nice is when you right click and it starts to build it
automatically sets this to whatever room you were you right clicked on
so that you get the right items right away it would be nice if that was
still the fact in construction mode [Music] so we need those i still
think we're gonna i mean we need to set up a barracks but maybe we'll
set up a little smaller to start with okay so what i'm gonna do here
with our control room now is i'm going to shrink this but we know we've
got the space for what we need do something like that [Music] um why
don't i extend the hallway down maybe we can make this tiny bit smaller
[Music] but at the same time i think i'll put more lockers in so that if
we do get anyone right away well it depends fast i'll go two we'll try
to make it a priority to add more lockers a little sooner so that we
have more minions lying around to fight but not a whole heck of a lot so
let's get our power room figured out we also have to dig tunnels to
access things here i think the vault will expand here i think we are
going to want the tunnel over here maybe what i'll do is i'll build the
power room here [Music] and just trying to figure out where i want my
door [Music] if i build that should work out because i can do the
incinerator here and that's all legal good because there's still one
tile access so i can cancel this yeah not gonna do any doors quite yet
so a couple of power the control room the vault somewhere there for them
to sleep and we'll get some other basics let's start this boom you can
see like and i said like right when i started recording like when you're
not doing the tutorial it's so easy for it to just break and that's
before i realized this i was like i figured out the uh the money
situation but the people coming in is is really frustrating i guess
we'll just go ahead and sell these right away it'd be nice to be able to
do this maybe in bulk [Music] there's a lot of little clicks and i guess
we'll try the valley we could also try the guard first so it could fight
people off faster i don't know and immediate traps perhaps it's hard to
know exactly what ordered prioritize things in it was really tricky time
to get my hands all part of the plan get this done now scout out of
region all right and be back over here you need to build a vault earlier
i don't know but the tutorial literally has you build a vault as the
first thing so if it turns out you don't need a vault right away then
the tutorial is not very good literally the first thing the tutorial has
to do is place a vault so that you can store your money in the original
you didn't need beds at least not a lot because they shared them yeah we
need lockers because they don't share them yeah more lockers increase
the maximum number of minions we can have so more lockers is definitely
going to
